Embodying luxury and elegance, Belgian GODIVA Chocolatier has debuted its Southeast Asia lifestyle concept cafe at Ion Orchard.
Following the successes of its East Asian counterparts in Hong Kong and Shanghai, the Singapore flagship store is sure to provide the ultimate indulgent experience to its customers.

You no longer have to take away your desserts because you can enjoy them in the comfort of the cafe’s cushioned seats, which is the distinctive difference compared to the other GODIVA stores in Singapore.

If you are searching for a gift that’s perfect for any festive occasion, this lifestyle cafe boasts a huge variety of extravagantly designed chocolate gift boxes for you to choose from (they don’t come cheap, but quality over quantity y’all).

Choose from a myriad of decadent chocolate selections, namely Truffle, Praline, Carré and/or Seasonal Chocolate that range from $28 – $36 per 100g.

Available at all of the GODIVA stores, the Chocolate Twist Soft Serve ($9) is a hybridization of Vanilla White Chocolate and Dark Chocolate served on a chocolate crunch dusted cone.
The soft serve had a subtle creamy texture that’s not too heavy, striking the right balance between sweetness and bitterness.

Unique to the concept cafe, Blueberry and White Chocolate Delice ($12) tasted like a jellified fruit jam with bits of white chocolate in it.
Intricately topped with the holy trinity of strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, the tartness from the berries combined well with the sweetness of white chocolate and the pistachio bits added a nice nutty crunch to the cake too.

For something more chocolatey, try the Chocolate Cheesecake on Speculoos Crust ($12) that was slightly savoury with the consistency of a dense cheesecake. A little on the rich side, this decadent cake will go well with a non-sweet drink.

Topped with a giant “cocoa bean”, delve in the luscious and aromatic GODIVA Dark Chocolate Sin ($12), an evenly layered dark chocolate cake that looked like it’s encased in a chocolate box.

Gateau Opera ($12) is a classic coffee syrup-soaked almond sponge cake that was evenly layered with chocolate ganache and coffee buttercream, and lastly finished with premium white chocolate shavings.
Due to its distinctive aroma, coffee lovers will enjoy this one.

Feeling fancy? Get a taste of the Chocolate Dipped Fresh Strawberry ($9/pc), freshly made on the spot. If strawberry isn’t your thing, there is an option for a chocolate dipped banana as well.
For the quality of the strawberries, I feel that it’s being priced a little too steep for a mere morsel of the fruit.

A great option to warm you up, the frothy and bold flavoured Earl Grey Hot Chocolate ($9) was a smooth drink with an added kick of cinnamon to spice things up. Since Earl Grey and cinnamon flavour complemented each other well, the drink itself wasn’t overly sweet.

For a fruitier alternative, go for the ice-cold Blueberry White Chocolate Chocolixir ($9), which is a GODIVA special chocolate milkshake. Although it got overly jelak towards the end, this drink reminded me of PBJ (peanut butter jelly) and it is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Fair enough, the desserts and drinks at GODIVA are generally quite pricey, but hey, isn’t it reassuring to know that you’re eating like a Belgian royalty?
Although the premium quality cakes tasted decent, their sizes were on the smaller side. Nonetheless, this is a place that I would visit if I have extra cash for desserts.
Expected Damage: $25 – $35 per pax
