Cheekily named At The Myo (ATM), the new kid on the block is housed in Everton Park where you can “withdraw” food.
Previously, known as Sebastian Fusion Cuisine at a nearby hawker stall, Sebastian has since renamed and re-branded it.
A cosy stall with vibrant wall murals, At The Myo gives off an energetic vibe with its dreamy and colourful furniture.
The catch here is really their Hae Bee Hiam (Nyonya Spicy Dried Shrimp Sambal) dishes at competitive pricing. The dishes range from $10 to $20; and a ribeye steak and mashed potatoes will set you back at $17. That’s really affordable!
When ordering a main, you can top up $1.50 to enjoy any drink on the menu, and I’d recommend getting their Thai milk tea.
While it’s a bit too sweet for my liking, it’s delightfully creamy and strong, and my dining partners gulped down theirs in no time.
Hae Bee Hiam Cheese Fries ($7)
I was pretty excited to try the cheese dip, because Hae Bee Hiam cheese?! The fries are crisp and when paired with the slightly spicy cheese dip, mmhm. The only downside is that I didn’t really taste the hae bee hiam at first.
After a good 10 minutes into munching on it, the hae bee hiam notes finally set in. Over time, you’d find chunks of hae bee hiam towards the bottom of the dip.
Bacon Hae Bee Hiam Linguini ($12)
This is definitely something you should try, it’s a refreshing change from the usual encounters you’d have with hae bee hiam.
The linguine is cooked al dente, tossed with savoury bacon and zesty tomatoes. The hae bee hiam lends fragrance and adds an extra layer of flavour to the pasta, which makes it really hearty to have.
Tom Yum Prawn Spaghetti ($11)
I was not expecting it to be served in a broth base, but it was tangy and really creamy from the coconut milk, giving a really robust and savoury flavour to the dish.
The ingredients are aplenty, and the prawns are fresh. So, go on and sip on the broth while you indulge in the pasta.
Grill Cajun Dory with Garlic Rice ($10)
At a mere $10, this comes at a steal because the entire dory fillet is served alongside a good portion of rice.
While the dory fillet might be a tad too dry and bland, but when eaten with the savoury garlic fried rice, it balances out the flavour. The rice portion is generous, with visible pieces of fried egg and mushrooms, topped with a full fried egg. Yum.
Ondeh Ondeh Creme Brulee ($7.50)
I’ve always love a local-inspired dessert; the Ondeh Ondeh Creme Brulee is filled with exciting textures made with coconut crisps, creamy yet light pandan custard with a slightly charred top, accompanied with ondeh ondeh skin, jelly and gula melaka ice cream, of which is made in house.
Not too sweet, it is a rather well balanced dessert that I’ll order again when I’m here.
At The Myo serves pretty intriguing fusion food at a really affordable price, so yes I’d recommend heading there for a try!
Expected damage: $10 – $20
